This weeks events....

Well, we had an interesting week and a half. Several new developments in our household. I guess I'll start at the beginning. Max has been sleeping in his car seat for the last 2 months. The reason for this was that he did not want to be bundled anymore but he didn't know how to go to sleep without being bundled. He would just roll over on to his tummy and push himself up on his arms and scream. So, we put him in his car seat and he would go to sleep just fine. Well, that was a bad habit. So I finally put him in his crib and let him figure it out. He finally understands now and goes to bed without any troubles. Give him his blanket, passy and a kiss and he's good to go. I love it when babies sleep with their bums in the air!
So, I heard some interesting noises in the kitchen the other day. Upon investigation, I realized that life is going to get even busier. If only they weren't so darn cute!!
Max is also pulling himself up onto the furniture and is seriously thinking about cruising up and down it. Now, here is the BIG news. I have always been adamant about waiting until age 3 for potty training. However, Clare showed me several signs that she was aware of what was happening with her body, i.e, patting her diaper and saying "pee pee" when she went pee, getting me diapers when she pooped and saying ewe!!! So, I decided to try it out. When she got up this morning I out big girl undies on her and got out her brand new potty. She played with it and explored. I waited for her to go pee so she would realize that she wasn't wearing a diaper. She peed on herself and said "ewe!" From then on I gave her lots of salty snacks to make her thirsty, and un-diluted juice. She sat on her potty snacking and drinking and watching Elmo's potty time. I sat with her to encourage her to stay there. It took about an hour and a half!!! But, while I was on my office phone she wandered around a bit. Then it happened. She got on her potty all by herself and went pee!!!!! I quickly got off the phone and gave her lots of praise while she said"ewe!" She was proud of herself. I was beaming!!! So far so good. Hopefully it is a quick transition, but I don't want to get my hopes up. And that is our BIG week.
