On my mind.....

So, I really enjoy writing poetry. I usually have something on my mind that I can't stop thinking about and then I end up writing a poem to get it out of my head and off my mind. The poems usually end up on some random piece of paper and then lost forever. So, I decided to stop being so private about it and post it on my blog so I can keep track of the poems. I am pretty self conscious about it but I need to get over that so here goes. This one is something that I pretty much always think about and I don't think it will ever go away. I don't have a title for it so if anyone has any ideas then i would appreciate the input. Once again, I am very self conscious about this so please bear with me. It took a lot to post the last poem I wrote about my brother but this one is even harder.

His sweet little whimper

When he sees me walk by

Saying, please Mommy, hold me!

I touch him and whisper,

Hush baby, don't cry.

As he nestles in my neck

His heartfelt sigh of relief

Softens my tired mood

And lifts away my grief

Her little arms around my neck

Wrapped as tight as they will go

Exclaiming loudly, Mommy!!

Her excitement warms my soul

I say so proudly of my baby

As I take in her tiny embrace
I am glad to see you too!
And I kiss her beautiful face


You cannot feel a deeper love
Than the love of your babies
The consequence of this
Is a new discovery of worries


My mind seems to ponder
Endlessly, everyday
Lord, please protect them
I plead and I pray


This world is so corrupt
Please help me to be watchful
Save them from the evils of men
And keep them ever mindful


Lord, even more than this,
Lead me, to guide them I pray
Teach me all that I must do
To help THEM find the way


I am thankful for this covenant
New, and everlasting
My family is eternal
Our circle never ending


Please keep us whole
Help them to choose the right
Help me give them wisdom
To guide them in the light.
